Reds vs. Cubs July 1, 2010

I was able to get a hold of tickets for a Cubs game while I was in the city of Chicago. I could not wait. Drove up to the stadium 2 hours before the game. As you walk down the street there are vendors everywhere as they try to sell their Cubs Shirts and hats. Even Food vendors as well. Got inside the Wrigley stadium after battling a huge crowd of people and decided to get a hot dog then made my way to the seats. Sat in aisle 117 row 7. The seats were excellent. a perfect view of home plate. Sat down and watched batting practice while enjoying the hot dog. As batting practice ended the grounds crew started to pack up the equipment and i thought to myself, " I have never seen so many grounds crew people!" There were at least 20 to 25 of them.

The pitchers of this game was Travis Wood for the Reds and Carlos Silva for the Cubbies. This was Woods first ever career start in the big leagues and I would have to say.... I was very impressed with his performance. He pitched 7 strong innings and only allowing 2 runs. He had 4 strikeouts and 3 walks on the day. The Cubs striked first with a triple by Scott Rolen in the first inning. Then the game became a pitchers duel with neither pitchers showing weakness. Then in the 8th inning the Reds were able to scratch out one more run. That's when the cubs offense decided to show. Tyler Colvin came up with the bases loaded and hit a single to drive in a pair which tied the game. The game then went into extra innings when the Reds scored a run in the 10th when Drew Stubbs batted with the bases loaded and grounded into a double play which brought Miguel Cairo home. The Cubs were unable to score in their at bat so the Reds won by a score of 3 - 2.

All in all i was very impressed with Wrigley Field as it feels like you are on top of the players and in the action. Thanks for reading my first post and I hope to write many more in the future!!
